Perfect size and shape.
The 2.5mm connector must be a perfect fit for the exacting specifications of all high end portable DAP and other devices accepting 2.5mm balanced output while allowing an easy installation of a variety of headphone, interconnect, and in-ear-monitor cables. With a 10mm barrel diameter and an 8mm front and rear opening will fit the vast majority of cables. The flush front face allows dimensional stability when mated with the music player, preventing jack stress. Barrel length has been reduced slightly for better portability.
Ideal installation conditions.
The solder contacts inside the plug are thoroughly insulated and properly spaced to allow effortless cable installation. While all 4-contact plugs require extra attention to install, there is even more room inside the barrel than before so that your cable can be soldered with less difficulty than before. This design has been prototyped and tested over an extended period to ensure it goes the distance - over the past 2 years its track record has been stellar. The barrel is treated to ensure its interior is nonconductive, and the plug avoids the use of magnetically charged materials wherever possible.
The best metallurgy for each design.
A high-conductivity, high strength combination of gold and brass is employed for this connector. Superior plating thickness and complete plating of all plug surfaces set this connector apart.
Unique barrel aesthetics.
The Eidolic 2.5mm balanced plug for Astell & Kern is incredibly light and compact due to the choice of materials, which also confer a near-indestructible exterior; the revised dimensions reduce weight slightly. The new black anodized aluminum shell is textured with a proprietary process that yields a tough, matte finish that sparkles in the light. A distinctive crimson Eidolic logo is screened and cured onto the upper area of the barrel. Even the most abrasive conditions will not harm the exterior of these connectors.

IACS (International Annealed Copper Standard)
The IACS rating is the metric used to describe a metals conductivity as compared to the standard of copper.
First take a look below at pure metals conductivity ratings.
(1) OCC Pure Silver - 107%
(2) OCC Copper - 103%
(3) Copper (common grade) - 100%
(4) Gold - 73%
Silver is the best there is, in pure form, period.
If you take a 1"x 1"x 1" cube of pure silver and compare its conductivity to an identical 1"x 1"x 1" cube of gold, the gold is considered 32-35% less conductive than the pure silver.
An alloy, by definition, is less pure than the original pure metals it is comprised of. Alloys are in existence largely for strength / hardness properties and are not meant for high end audio cables. When you alloy a metal, say gold with silver, you quickly decrease its purity and IACS rating. Even at just 1% gold alloyed with silver the IACS rating drops down well below plumbing grade copper. Alloys in the audio world came about purely as competition increased and there was desperation for new ways to try and market a cable to the uneducated masses.
