Brand new - 2017 model - Rhodium plated 3.5mm TRS - gunmetal with silver carbon barrel
The Eidolic 3.5mm plug is a clean-slate effort to revolutionize this stand-by connector for personal audio, for a product that allows for a simplified installation process, enhanced durability, superior ergonomics, and a unique appearance.
Perfect size and shape. The 3.5mm connector must be small enough to fit all electronics, while large enough to accomodate substantial headphone and interconnect cables. We have a streamlined 10.5mm barrel diameter that will fit very compact jack layouts, but a 7mm rear opening will fit the vast majority of cables. The extended, narrow 3.5mm long collar behind the plug shaft allows it to fit into recessed openings such as cellphone and music player cases. The interior of the generation 3 connector is even roomier than before.
Ideal installation conditions. The solder contacts inside the plug are thoroughly insulated and properly spaced to allow effortless cable installation, without the risk of shorts or compromised insulation. In this way, we avoid tiny, stacked contacts that are easy to short and difficult to maneuver around. This design has been prototyped and tested over an extended period to ensure it goes the distance. The barrel offers ample room inside and is treated to ensure its interior is nonconductive, and the plug avoids the use of magnetically charged materials wherever possible.
The best metallurgy for each design. A high-performance base metal with superior strength is employed for this connector. The rhodium plating is the best in the industry, offering superior hardness and scratch resistance. Superior plating thickness and complete plating of all plug surfaces set this connector apart.
Unique barrel aesthetics. The Eidolic 3.5mm plug is incredibly light and compact due to the choice of materials, which also confer a near-indestructible exterior. The anodized aluminum shell is textured with a proprietary process that yields a tough, matte finish that sparkles in the light. Generation 3 adds a ìgunmetalî dark silver finish to the aluminum and a recessed silver fiber ring that stands out from the crowd. A stealthy grey Eidolic logo is screened and heat-cured onto the upper area of the barrel.

IACS (International Annealed Copper Standard)
The IACS rating is the metric used to describe a metals conductivity as compared to the standard of copper.
First take a look below at pure metals conductivity ratings.
(1) OCC Pure Silver - 107%
(2) OCC Copper - 103%
(3) Copper (common grade) - 100%
(4) Gold - 73%
Silver is the best there is, in pure form, period.
If you take a 1"x 1"x 1" cube of pure silver and compare its conductivity to an identical 1"x 1"x 1" cube of gold, the gold is considered 32-35% less conductive than the pure silver.
An alloy, by definition, is less pure than the original pure metals it is comprised of. Alloys are in existence largely for strength / hardness properties and are not meant for high end audio cables. When you alloy a metal, say gold with silver, you quickly decrease its purity and IACS rating. Even at just 1% gold alloyed with silver the IACS rating drops down well below plumbing grade copper. Alloys in the audio world came about purely as competition increased and there was desperation for new ways to try and market a cable to the uneducated masses.
Norne Audio will always utilize the purest form of a metal and will always use pure silver occ litz, pure copper occ litz, spc occ litz or mixes thereof. Our goal is the design that possesses the absolute top specifications of the highest possible quality.
